Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) is a transportation improvement program focused on reducing emissions in designated areas of the United States. Federal
Funding is available to government agencies for projects that will contribute greatly
to air quality improvements and decreases in traffic congestion.

**Submissions for the 2010 application cycle will be accepted by the MPOs beginning December 1, 2008; must be postmarked by February 6, 2009.
MPOs must have their prioritized list of projects, along with the applications, to the Office of Local Programs no later than
March 6, 2009. **
